Role Overview

We are seeking a Bilingual Research & Data Visualization Specialist (Japanese–English) to support a feasibility study in Japan. This role combines research, translation, data structuring, and visual communication.

You will work closely with our team to translate interviews and research findings into clear insights, and transform those insights into charts, graphs, and publication-ready materials.

This is not a pure translation role. You must be able to think, structure, and communicate information clearly across languages and formats.

Key Responsibilities

Bilingual Translation (Japanese <-> English)

• Translate interviews, notes, and research materials with accuracy and cultural nuance
• Ensure meaning and context are preserved, especially for culturally sensitive content

Data Structuring & Analysis

• Organize qualitative and quantitative data into clear frameworks
• Identify key themes, patterns, and insights
• Support development of feasibility study outputs

Data Visualization & Infographics

• Create charts, graphs, and visual summaries of findings
• Translate complex information into clear, compelling visuals
• Support development of infographics and presentation materials

Report Development

• Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and publication-ready materials
• Ensure clarity, consistency, and professional formatting

Qualifications

• Fluency in Japanese and English (written and spoken) is a must
• Experience in research, consulting, policy, or feasibility studies
• Strong ability to synthesize qualitative interviews into structured insights
• Experience with data visualization tools (Excel, Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
• Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or similar)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with government or institutional stakeholders in Japan
• Background in sustainability, bioeconomy, environmental or cultural research
• Experience producing infographics or published research outputs
• Ability to balance analytical rigor with clear, concise communication
